Me Mondays: Scrap-booking (312)

So I'm a Quilter - through and through, I'm not a scrap-booker but I love scrap-books. My SIL and MIL Scrapbook like crazy!!

Here's one little tiny project that my SIL did for my business a few years ago, it's a little "brag book" for me to show off some of my goings-on through Pastimes Online and I just love having this in my booth and in my shoppe to show off some of my proud moments here.

She has such a great eye for scrap-booking, I'm envious of this talent..enjoy this sneak peak...

So with this in mind, I have all of these cards from London's Baby Shower and fabric scraps from the curtains and stuff I've made for her - I want a keepsake but I'm not a scrap-booker so I went onto Etsy and found someone to do it for me...her name's Brandi and I can't wait to get my complete book from her...here's what we've planned...use all of London't cards for the pages of the scrap-book and embelish with fabric scraps from her room colours...I've sent her a pile of photos and a bit of direction but I fell in love with her style and her super bubbly personality...here's her Etsy shoppe, ScrapsbyBrandi - have a gander for yourself - she's super creative! I'll keep you posted and of course post pics when I receive it.

Sisters (301)

So my sister Lisa called me up and asked if I could give her a hand with a quilt a whole group of friends made for their friend who's going through a rough time...so I said of course, come on over - what fun we had.

One of her friends assembled the top, so we picked borders and backing, now onto the pinning..

first time Lisa "quilted" a quilt and she sure enjoyed it...nice job Li - ps the gloves worked good hey? (she wasn't sure the gloves were "all that" but then after a bit she said they were worth it lol)

...binding, the best part, right?

ps her friend LOVED it. This is the true meaning of quilting...when the patches are made by all different people, for one special person, who needs something to snuggle up in and keep her thoughts warm and safe. What a gift...so special.

Block of the month Ideas for 2012 (255)

Since we've been complete this one by Crabapple Hill called HocusPocusVille only one month left...a great combo of imaginary houses and shoppes with adorable patchwork...changed it slightly from the original but I LOVE their style and creativity.

What do you think of this new one from Meg called Calendula Patterdrips Cottage?

This is an interesting project, playing with crayon's, tonal fabrics, irons etc, check out her blog posting on it here to give you more details. I think it would be neat to learn but finding the white Crayola crayons could be our challenge :)

Block of the Month Ideas for 2012 (254)

Since Journey of a Quilter in 2010 was such a huge success...remember this one? I still sell this pattern kit almost weekly, isn't that amazing. It was the first one I chose because the name just spoke so clearly to me I had to have it as my first block of the month.

Another option by Leanne Beasley is this one: Butterfly Garden

The blocks are slightly smaller, more detail in the patchwork, a lot of scrappy and whimsy. Still incorporating some embroidery and a good use of so many colours - good project for beginner and advanced.

Block of the Month Ideas for 2012 (253)

How about something else Vintage? This Vintage Valentine quilt I've seen many times over my last 10 years of quilting and have always want to complete a project like this. It's sew pretty, there's sew much detail. Not sure of the colour scheme I'll pick for it it this one is chosen but I'm sure it'll be in these super pretty pinks, red, I'm thinking wools, silks, cottons and linens to make it more textural...
